As announced today the 2018 Winter Games will be in PyeongChang (without a space) in South Korea . . . other candidates were german Munich and french Annecy.
Also the IOC has decided to add Slopestyle and Parallel Slalom to the Olympic Winter Games disciplines . . . some great news and this means already at the Sochi Games in 2014 there will be 2 freestyle (Slopestyle & Halfpipe) and 2 alpine (PSL & PGS) events and Boardercross of course . . .
Austrian snowboard team chief Christian Galler consideres this decision to be a small step for mankind but a giant leap for the snowboard sport (original quote) and is among a lot of others who are happy about the IOC's commitment to recognize 'young' sports . . .
According to its official site the up next and first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck 2012 (first ever YOG were the Summer Games in Singapore 2010) are only to sport SBS and HP snowboarding comptetitions though.
Seems weird also since alpine riders and shredding are featured in a couple of clips to promote the event as in the one below.
